Your Morning Grind and Its Health Impact

It is a common consensus among highly successful people that what they do first thing in the morning impacts the rest of their day. It is common to not be a morning person, and we all have our bad days or mornings we got up on the wrong side of the bed. But if we make efforts consistently and the majority of the time, they go a long way. Believe it or not, health, longevity, and productivity are all intertwined with how we begin our days. My usual plug that everything is connected.


So what can you do about it? 


🔹Start your day with water- place a cup at your bed to grab before you drink your coffee. Water is a nutrient, and this is often forgotten. Mornings are often when your body needs water the most after fasting all night. Getting a jump start on your 8 cups a day in the morning helps your body's processes work efficiently throughout the day, with benefits such as aiding in fullness, concentration, and digestion & bowels regularity to name a few.

🔹Stretch! A sweat session isn’t necessary if your mornings are crammed. Stretching allows for your day to start with a mind body connection, while feeling good and helping aid in muscle recovery and blood flow. Stretching also has been linked to helping release stress and anxiety, allowing your to start your day with a naturally calming effect.

🔹Set an intention-write down a goal, a positive thing about yourself, or whatever intention means to you to begin to live deliberately. Setting intentions often helps create clarity in a world of chaos. It is compared to drawing a map of where you want to go, and once this energy is put into the universe, the more likely you are to achieve it.

🔹Prioritize a balanced breakfast- what's better than a delicious and nutritious start to your day? Replenish your mind and body to start your day off. Simple incorporation of this meal impacts your food choices throughout the rest of your day. Think of a day you skipped breakfast and therefore became ravenous at lunch or dinner. This can be avoided with simple preparation and planning to set yourself up for success.

🔹Limit screen time- this can be tough, but start your day with self awareness, nixing social media or television for a least the first 30 minutes you’re up.
